For Art Group, sustainability is more than an objective, it’s a guiding principle.

Our commitment to creating sustainable communities for future generations has led us to refurbish the once-forgotten Hope Street Playground in the inner-north suburb, Dickson.

It was a conscientious decision for us to invest in, and for, the community to nurture a sustainable and connected neighbourhood.

Astoria Bright, a Canberra-based playground enthusiast, who has visited over 500 playgrounds in the region says, “Hope Street Playground is a vibrant playground for the inner-north community of Canberra. It has come a long way with upgrades and amenities like physical pathways, benches and seating, and a sheltered picnic area. It is great to see that Art Group has also considered and upgraded fencing and bubble bins, as well as retained some of the old playground equipment whilst installing some new ones.”

Our idea of sustainability also involves the social and emotional fabric of a community, and we hope this playground creates a space for individuals, families, and communities to enjoy, foster wellbeing and make meaningful connections.

“You don’t often see property developers investing in the improvement of a local playground. It is the first time I have ever seen a developer taking proactive steps to enhance the community’s recreational space”, says Astoria.

At every opportunity, we seek to create a sense of belonging and connection to nature for residents, not just within their homes but in their surroundings too – whether it’s a nature reserve, walking trails, rolling hills or another playground.

Astoria added, “Dickson only has two playgrounds, and enhancements like this encourage locals to get out of their homes for a walk or to spend quality time with their families. It is inviting!”

The revival of Hope Street Playground is an ode to the potential held in every forgotten corner of the community. We hope to continue to support and nurture these spaces, breathing new life into them for the people of Canberra.
